Richard Gerardo, D.C.

Dr. Richard Gerardo received his Bachelors of Science degree in biology from California Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1981. He graduated Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, California in 1984, and acquired his license to practice by the California State Board of Chiropractic in 1985. He received an Advanced Certification in SOT 1989, was board certified for Craniopathy in 1991 and for Clinical Nutrition in 1997.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Gerardo has been a member of the Sacro Occipital Technique Research Society International (SORSI), the SORSI board of examiners, the California Chiropractic Association (CCA), the American Chiropractic Associations (ACA), a diplomat of the American Chiropractic Board of Nutrition of the ACA, and an advisory board member of the Sacro Occipital Technique Organization (SOTO).

In addition to activities of the above organizations, Dr. Gerardo routinely attends monthly study groups and participates in conferences and seminars for chiropractic, SOT, and dental / orthodontic related studies. He has shared his knowledge and expertise through instruction, lecture, and presentation. He has served as a post-graduate instructor at Cleveland Chiropractic College, a guest lecturer at the Southern California University of Health Sciences, and Director of the Chiropractic and Craniopathic Center at Santa Teresita Hospital (Duarte, California).

He has lectured on topics on topics such as the Sacro Occipital Technique, manipulative reflex technique, the Dental-Chiropractic Co-Treatment Paradigm, and his "Headgear Effect", and has presented clinical research papers on topics including bruxism (teeth clenching & grinding), eustachian tube technique, physiognomy and its relation to physical traits as well as personality traits, and nutritional therapy for chronic migraines, meopause, chronic fatigue, and respiratory infections. Dr. Gerardo currently heads the Dental-Cranial program for SOTO.

 

Practice Modalities

Dr. Gerardo practices "wholistic" chiropractic, which focuses on restoring natural balance to the body and incorporates the impact of the dental system. He integrates principles of chiropractic, SOT, craniopathy, and nutrition. His modalities include carpal tunnel treatment, specific chiropractic adjustments to the misaligned spinal segments, low force SOT, blocking to the pelvis, cranial therapy to release the dural and sutural tension in the cranium, and jaw joint muscle therapy and mobilization.

 


J. Bruce Johnson, D.D.S.

Dr. Bruce Johnson received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1974 from the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, and in 1976, his Doctor of Dental Science degree. He was licensed by the California State Dental Board this same year and began practice in Eagle Rock, California.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Johnson has been a member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP), the American Italian Dental Association (AIDA), the Glendale Academy of Dentists, San Fernando Valley Dental Society, Orthopedic Gnathology Study Group, San Gabriel Valley Implant Study Group, and a charter member of the American Association for Functional Orthodontics (AAFO).

In addition to activities of the above organizations, Dr. Johnson has advanced his education and enhanced his practice through numerous educational courses, seminars, and study groups. He is founder and facilitator of the Southern California Dental-Cranial Study Group and an "ALF" Study Group which meet once monthly, attends monthly meetings for the Glendale Academy and the Implant Study Group, and quarterly meetings for the American Italian Dental Association. He participates in annual conferences for the organizations above as well as for those such as the International Association for Facial Growth Guidance, the Holistic Dental Association, Mid America Orthodontic Society, and BioResearch.

He has provided presentations for the Southern California Health Sciences University, San Gabriel Valley Dental Implant Study Group, USC Orthodontic Alumni Study Club, California Dental Association, and Sacro Occipital Techniques Organization on lecture topics such as TMJ for Chiropractors, Occlusal Splint Therapy, Muscle and Joint Parameters in TMJ patients, Altering Occlusion for Periodontal Health, and the Dental-Chiropractic Co-Treatment Paradigm.


Practice Modalities

Dr. Johnson practices dentistry, orthodontic treatment, and TMJ/CMD therapy with a focus on airway and restoring natural balance to the dental system. His modalities include preventative, restorative (fillings, crowns, etc.), and general dental treatments and procedures; orthodontic treatments including arch development, occlusal alignment, tooth alignment, and myofunctional appliances for proper function; therapy and treatment of jaw joint disorders and cranio-mandibular distortion; airway analysis, appliances, and corrective therapies.
